Finn (FN-2187) and First Order Tie Fighter Pilot Titanium Series Helmet Review

Finn First Order Tie Fighter Pilot titanium helmet

This is Star Wars The Black Series Titanium Series #05. These mini diecast set contains Finn's Stormtrooper helmet and First Order Tie Pilot helmet. This set is rarely available at some toy stores and just got lucky to have found one at Toys R Us.

I mentioned before in my recent post of #03 Darth Vader and Stormtrooper mini helmets regarding the base if they can detached, yeah it's possible because here in #05 Titanium Series, the tie fighter pilot's base is separated inside the package. You just snap it inside the helmet and it holds firmly. I saw a video review of Poe Dameron's TBS Titanium Series helmet being tried on Luke's Sideshow figure but they're kind a small to fit it. Of course I tried detaching the base but it was stiff so I just quit.

Finn First Order titanium helmet
This is Finn (FN-2187) mini diecast helmet. The blood stains on the helmet from a dying Stormtrooper marked the beginning of his defecting from Kylo Ren's forces, becoming a fugitive.

Having Finn's helmet tells a story beyond those blood stains which you can tell your kids why this helmet have them.

I am satisfied with the paint jobs especially on the blood markings. Helmet is glossy white but when it comes to the visor lens, in needs improvement to catch that gray-tinted look, like that of Darth Vader's in #03 Titanium Series set.

Looking closer at the helmet, the rest of the paint job is awesome!

The sculpt is very close to the original first order stormtrooper helmet along with the details in the grill mesh, the blood stain, filtration fitting/ mic tip and so on. I just hope they painted black the 7 cutout tube stripes on the sides because it's supposed to be some sort of speakers or air vents. Notice some more blood marks on the other parts of the helmet. Cool.

Nice side view angle and I like the clear, transparent material of the base. It gives a floating illusion on the helmets. Since they are diecast materials, expect them to be a little heavy.

Tie fighter pilot titanium series helmet
Tie Pilot helmet comes with a removable chest plate. The hose can be detached from the filtration fitting.
The Force Awakens highlighted many air fight scenes and one of my favorites is the Millennium Falcon and Tie Fighter chase inside the old Star Destroyer in Jakku. That scene featured the flying and combat skills of the special forces Tie Pilots. Here I only have the regular Tie Pilot without the 2 red stripes on. Mind you that there is also a Titanium Series of that special forces Tie Pilot packed with Poe Dameron's black X-Wing helmet.

I checked the details and sculpt of the actual First Order Tie Pilot and the Titanium Series almost nailed it. I spotted some minimal details that are lacking but  still a very nice diecast helmet.

They did well in painting the visor lens to tinted gray and the rest of the helmet is glossy black. The silver paint details are neat as well as the red dark blue, white and gray buttons on the chest plate.

At a glance, you can't see easily the helmet details on this black helmet but with the right angle of the source of light, you can accomplish it. Without the chest plate and hose, I think this figure will lose a score to its overall value.

I just wish there's a way to get the chest plate to fall vertically because the base neck is not too high which causes it to rest diagonally from the surface.

Final Thoughts:

The Tie Pilot and Finn #05 Titanium Series is a great combo for Star Wars diecast helmets. Both belong to the First Order Imperial Army and mind you, this set is running out fast. I forgot to mention that the helmets can move up and down but not sideways.

Score:
Sculpt: 9/10
Paint: 8/10
Recommended: Yes

Back of the box.
Looking forward for the next sets of TBS Titanium Series. One of my wish list is the Death Squad Trooper with Rebel Commander mini helmets. If I get one probably it would be my next toy review. So until then, happy toy hunting!
