Star Wars: The Toys That Made Us-Favorite Facts & Quotes

If you have Netflix, I highly recommend that you watch one of their originals-The Toys That Made Us. Episode one of season one is about Star Wars toys that features the history of vintage action figures and how it captivated millions of fans into toy collecting.

Here are some of my favorite facts and quotes from the episode.

The Clearance Sale Phenomenon: Star Wars The Black Series

It's been months since most Star Wars collectors in the Philippines are posting on facebook simultaneous price drop-offs of action figures of Star Wars The Black Series at Toy Kingdom and Toys R' Us. In the recently held clearance sale at Toy Kingdom Megamall, the 6" action figures dropped from P1500 (28.97 USD) to an affordable price of P300 (5.79 USD).

Here is another video walkthrough of toy stores you can find inside the Greenhills Shopping Center. This film was shot at around 10 a.m. and there are few stores that were still closed. I may have missed some good toy stores in the video for the reason that the battery was draining fast.

The PLDT Screen of Death (PSoD)

For PC users, one of the most feared computer errors we encounter during an important project or recently installed software is the Blue Screen of Death—BSoD for short.

BSoD is an error screen displayed on a Windows computer system after a fatal system error, also known as a system crash: when the operating system reaches a condition where it can no longer operate safely. -Wikipedia

When this happens, our computer starts to be unreliable that we may lose important data and corrupt system files in the storage discs.

Same goes with our Internet Service Providers if the connection suddenly crawls in times we needed it most!

Commander Cody: 6" Star Wars Black Series

This figure review is kinda' late because the 6" Black Series Commander Cody #14 was released somewhere in 2015. I got mine on the same year, took photos but never wrote until I felt, man I should review this figure.

Commander Cody was one of the clone armies formed from the genetic template of Jango Fett, a bounty hunter. The clones troopers were deployed across the galaxy to fight against the droid armies during the Clone Wars. Commander Cody was then under the command of Obi-Wan Kenobi but later turned his back from the Jedi master because of his indoctrinated loyalty to Chancellor Palpatine who ordered to kill all Jedis (Order 66).

TOMICA AT-M6 and First Order AT-AT Review

One of my favorite scenes in Episode VIII The Last Jedi is the battle at Crait, where old master Luke Skywalker faces Kylo Ren for a lightsaber duel. But before that, another iconic scene from The Empire Strikes Back was somehow brought to life in this movie through the new mech walkers: The AT-M6 and the First Order AT-AT.

If you a are toy enthusiast who happens to visit the Philippines soon, then going to San Juan City, Metro Manila should be on your itinerary.

At Greenhills Shopping Center you can find lots of bargain items from electronics, mobile phones, computers, dining, entertainment-and anything you can think of might be there too. Well saving the best for last, this shopping mall is a treat for toy hunters because there's a number of toy store chains inside the shopping center which are located at the V-Mall (Viramall) and the Shoppesville Plus.

Star Wars The Black Series: Ben [Obi-Wan] Kenobi

One of the most important characters in the Star Wars saga has finally made it's way in the Black Series collection-Obi Wan or old Ben Kenobi. Before we go further, there are already 3 variants of this figure which are the SDCC Exclusive, the 40th Anniversary and the black and red boxed figure #32.

Star Wars The Black Series: AT-AT Pilot

Even though this review should have been published months ago, the AT-AT pilot/driver is still a very nice figure to have in your 6" Black Series collection. He is one of the most iconic characters in the Empire Strikes Back movie that's why you can find him here again in my blog where I got the chance to review the AT-AT Driver ArtFX Kotobukiya statue.

Celebrate Your Kid's Birthday At Max's Restaurant

Recently we were invited to Chickie Boy's birthday party at Max's Restaurant, Scout Tuason branch. Chickie Boy is Max's very own mascot and I have no idea yet how old is he now. Well Max's Restaurant has been in the business since 1945 so we can assume that Chickie Boy just turned 72 years old. Hmmm... I maybe wrong because he's just a boy.

Elvis Presley Figure From '68 Comeback Special by Enterbay & Kotobukiya

One of my best childhood memories is a family video of me doing an Elvis Presley impersonation wearing a black leather jacket with a guitar while lip-syncing a song from his concert. I'm still a huge Elvis fan and a week won't pass without listening to his music.

Now that I am starting to shift on sixth scale toy figures, of course looking for an Elvis Presley figure is on my list. I don't own too much memorabilia of the King of Rock and Roll but having the closest representation of him is enough for me to look at everyday while listening to his timeless songs.

Whenever I go to toy conventions, I always admire the awesome displays of 1/6 scale figures at the collector's toy gallery. Every time I see my favorite Hot Toys characters, I usually ask myself "Would I have one of those someday?"

Hot Toys and Sideshow are known for making ultimate action figures in 1/6 scale which are sculpted close-to-actual character with great articulation, accessories including changeable head and hand poses. If you are into toy photography, having these bad ass figures will give you many poses and great close-up photos even in the smallest detail.
