The PLDT Screen of Death (PSoD)

For PC users, one of the most feared computer errors we encounter during an important project or recently installed software is the Blue Screen of Death—BSoD for short.

BSoD is an error screen displayed on a Windows computer system after a fatal system error, also known as a system crash: when the operating system reaches a condition where it can no longer operate safely. -Wikipedia

When this happens, our computer starts to be unreliable that we may lose important data and corrupt system files in the storage discs.

Same goes with our Internet Service Providers if the connection suddenly crawls in times we needed it most!

For online freelancers like me, a stable and fast internet connection is a huge requirement.  You don’t want your client to be waiting all the time. If you can’ t keep up with him, hiring a replacement is just a click away. No internet, no work.

Currently we are subscribed to PLDT’s 50mbps Fibr Plan and has enjoyed the service for years. Fast downloads and video streaming. But until recently we noticed that we are always getting connection issues and slow internet.

Below are the recurring dates I asked for repair.

July 18, 2018
August 31, 2018
October 2, 2018
October 18, 2018
November 2, 2018
November 7, 2018
November 8, 2018
November 12, 2018

NOTE: I am updating the above date list every time we get problems.

There are certain sites that cannot be accessed and we get the Secured Connection Failed page errors. Refreshing the page at intervals can get some luck but it doesn’t load the whole page.

Their hotline 171 is not reliable because it rejects our account number even though I checked many times for possible errors on my part. One customer service rep which I had the chance to speak to said it's not operational at the moment.

Worry not because there are still ways to report your concerns to PLDT:

1.    Send a private message to PLDT HOME facebook account. Be sure to give your account number, contact and your concerns.
2.    Login to PLDT Home website and go to the Support page. You need to register your account first to be able to reach the support page. Their website manages to work even though our connection is not stable.

After you successfully login, it will direct your accounts. Click on Manage>Support>Help Ticket.

I suggest you do both options so you can get a response from their customer team as soon as possible.

The recent 7,000 contractors that was removed from their service may have somehow affected the current services of PLDT.

And finally, we get page ridericts to the PLDT Customer Payment Reminder Portal. What?!!! We just paid the bill a week ago. Why are we getting this reminder? Is this a system bug? Paki explain.

As I am writing this article, we are currently in the no-connection routine. We are again awaiting for PLDT’s response to our problem. I wonder what could go wrong this time?

Dear PLDT, if we get our connection back, please make sure we don’t see another PSoD. Please fix this bug for the good of the paying customers. Peace.
Update: Several hours later our internet connection was restored to it's normal performance after receiving a phone call from Cesca. She's from the support team of the PLDT Home website. She asked me to check again the internet connection since they are currently monitoring my report. I told her to note the system bug that redirects to the Customer Payment Reminder Portal for those who already paid their bill. I read that some customers also experience this issue.
