One of the highlights in the movie Iron Man 2 movie is where Tony Stark (Iron Man) having an armored sidekick who's also his best friend James Rhodes as portrayed by movie star Don Cheadle.
In the movie, Tony Stark got drunk in his Mark 3 armor who loosed control in his birthday party. To stop him, James Rhodes decided to borrow the Mark 2 armor to confront him. This led James Rhodes to confiscate the Mark 2 and upgraded it to a heavily War Machine armor.
I've always love the scene where War Machine and Iron Man had a fight with the Hammer Drones. They fought side by side with team work and this became one of the most favorite diorama for action figure collectors.
Now here's a simple review of Habro's Iron Man 2 - 3.75" War Machine Movie Series. First of all, this figure actually measures 4 inches tall which may not look good enough when displaying with your average G.I. Joe figures-that is if you're strict like me when it comes to arranging various action figures together in the shelves.
Appearance:
As you can see, the primary colors are dark gray and silver. I just wish they put some damage effects to it but not a big deal, paint still looks cool to me. I like the white text markings on the shoulders, right rib and back legs. If you look to the eyes and the chest arc reactor, there's a little reddish glow which can be revealed by looking closely to it. I saw some variants of this figure with the bluish glow in the eyes and chest arc reactor.
Now comes the sculpt factors. Yes it comes close to the actual movie image of War Machine but of course you can't expect too much for a 3.75" figure because of the complexity of its scale. With the right amount of details that even in closeups, you can be mistaken of seeing a larger scaled action figure. See the photos above, you can fool others to say it's a six or seven inch figure but it's not!
Well there is one thing I noticed about the head. It's kind the round to me. Maybe it should have been been quite oblong but yeah, maybe it's just me.
War Machine has two shoulder cannons. The other cannon is huge for this guy which is actually the firing missile feature. It has one red missile which does not look cool to be hanging around him. Anyway these two cannons can be removed and switch places. The smaller cannon or machine gun has a removable ammo belt that goes off easily because it's a push-only to a small square hole. Even so the ammo belt still compliments the machine gun in his shoulder.
Articulation:
Again with the cannon and machine gun, it can be move sideways and can go far down to the back. The shoulder pads can be tilted upward and stays in place.
This War Machine 4" inch figure is a good addition to my Marvel Universe collection considering the fine sculpt details and almost enough articulation with this guy. The joints are tight and easily stands well in various poses. It just fall short with the head's limitation to move freely and its rounded face.
Appearance: 9/10
Articulation: 8/10
Value for money: 8/10

This looks really cool! I know my brother will be interested in this
ReplyDeleteImpressive looking iron man figurine!! Definitely an excellent review for figurine hobbyists. (Y)
ReplyDeleteWar Machine is the most bad ass among all of Tony Stark's armor. You just can't top a minigun. Speaking of War Machine, it reminds me of the new adidas colorway with the same name. Check this out.

Such a kick-ass figure. I'd prefer this than looking at Cheadle's role in Iron Man 3 (Iron Patriot) which seemed to have a very much than minimal exposure.
ReplyDeleteThe Iron Patriot is like a compact war machine that looks thinner and colorful. Sometimes mistaken as Captain America War Machine.
